About

How can therapy help?

When life’s challenges stack up and leave us feeling limited, paralyzed, isolated, or addicted, thriving gives way to surviving. Relationships and jobs suffer – sometimes noticeably. Engaging in therapy can reverse this progression and help to regain a sense of movement, ease, and joy. I welcome the opportunity to work with adults and teens with addictions, depression, anxiety, peri/menopause, ADHD, trauma, men’s issues, challenging family systems, and those marginalized by oppressive systems.

My Background and Approach

In counseling, I walk beside clients using proven strategies tailored to each person’s specific needs. By working together to identify the root of the problem, we can efficiently access your felt sense of inner wisdom needed to heal. I use an integrated and holistic approach that draws from internal family systems, somatic experiencing, ecotherapy, transpersonal therapy, humanism, mindfulness, and psychodynamics. Ethical practice is foundational to my work as a professional counselor associate which is guided by the Code of Ethics adopted by the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists.

My Values as a Therapist

My professional approach is informed by my long-term practice and spiritual grounding in Eastern philosophies which hold that all people contain the innate wisdom to break through life’s challenges and thrive. I have trained as a Zen monastic for several years in both the Soto and Rinzai traditions and employ ancient techniques with current modalities that are both harmonic and restorative while challenging us to touch into our essential and unbroken nature.

I am restored by time in nature and believe in its power to facilitate healing. Play is as important for adults as it is for children. I have a deep vow to work toward the depolarization of society. Suffering can be present in any set of circumstances – I welcome the opportunity to work with people of every race, sex, class, age, ethnicity, religion, national origin, ability, sexual orientation, and gender identity or expression. Cultural sensitivity and antiracism are important to me; respect for each client’s cultural background is fundamental to therapy. I am a member of the LGBTQ+ queer community and fully support trans clients during all phases of their journey.
