Hi, I’m Jeffry Sinanian
I’m a registered dietitian with over 30 years of experience supporting individuals and communities. My weight- and diet-neutral philosophy focuses on balance, sustainability, and the idea that every food has its place—when viewed in context of frequency, portion, and individual needs.
My journey began in 1995 in long-term clinical care followed by the WIC program in Los Angeles and the Bay Area of Northern California. In 2000, I chose to serve our country in the United States Peace Corps—serving in Armenia and East Timor—and later worked in Ethiopia and Sudan feeding severely malnourished children. I spent five years overseas learning about and helping communities.
For the past two decades, I’ve practiced in both private and public health sectors. Since 2019, I’ve been providing virtual medical nutrition therapy and counseling. My approach combines clinical expertise with continuous glucose monitoring data interpretation and motivational interviewing—all while deeply honoring each person’s autonomy. I specialize in helping adults reverse prediabetes, optimize metabolic health, and use GLP-1 medications in the most sustainable way. I also have extensive experience as a perinatal and pediatric nutritionist.
Outside of my practice, I love exploring the Pacific Northwest, discovering new restaurants, cooking, and venturing abroad.
I’d be honored to support your health journey.
Inclusive and Trauma Informed Care
I provide a safe, affirming environment for all individuals. I know how transformative that can be. I honor and respect patients’ sexual orientation, gender expressions, pronouns used, relationship configurations, and preferred names— because feeling seen is essential for trust and growth.
My counseling is trauma-informed and grounded in Motivational Interviewing. I use gentle check-ins and strategies to reduce emotional overwhelm, drawing from extensive training and years of experience supporting clients through sensitive, complex issues.
Weight Loss and Personalized Nutrition
I believe people can drastically improve their health with medical nutrition therapy without weight loss. I take a weight-neutral approach, focusing on health, habits, and overall wellness. I believe in health at any size.
I do support patients with weight loss goals, along the way helping them build skills and education to make informed choices.
Weight loss can be challenging, having support and expertise to be able to pivot and adjust often leads to meaningful and lasting results. Plans are tailored to each client’s goals and lifestyle, supporting gradual, sustainable change.
GLP-1 Medications
GLP-1 medications are powerful tools for patients needing to lose weight to reduce symptoms or risk of poor health outcomes. These drugs, as with any drug, comes with risks and side-effects. It is important to have a dietitian on your care team to give you the time to discuss challenges and coordinate care with your primary care provider as needed.
For clients taking GLP-1 medications, I provide guidance on goals, potential side effects, and strategies to manage these through medical nutrition therapy. I focus on common issues like preserving lean body mass, getting enough protein and fiber, and the right types of exercise.
Technology and Continuous Glucose Monitoring
Wearable devices such as watches, smart rings, pedometers, and cell phones can sync with my electronic medical record platform, Practice Better. This gives us a comprehensive view of activity, sleep, and nutrition.
I have extensive training and experience in the interpretation of continuous glucose monitor/biosensor data. I use this technology as needed to assess and tailor individualized nutrition plans, providing clients with personalized, data-driven insights into their health. (Stelo® glucose biosensors are provided as part of initial nutrition assessment for eligible patients)
